Resident Services

Resident services include general supervision, a private room, board, housekeeping, personal care, nursing care, activities and transportation.

General Supervision

We will provide assistance by reminding you or the person in your care of mealtimes, invitations to activities, and arranging medical, dental, and other appointments. If needed, we can shop for personal items and assist in obtaining medication within the limits of physican's orders. Our personal care attendants keep all medications locked and dispense them as ordered by the provider.

A Resident Personal account can be set up with HHR to hold and dispense funds for incidentals with written permission. A statement of personal transactions will be sent quarterly or upon request.

We encourage the appointment of a Power of Attorney and can ask the State for a Representative Payee if you or the person in your care is unable to manage on your own.

HHR is not a locked facility and residents are able to come and go as they please. The outside doors are locked at 8 PM and unlocked at 7 AM; residents are asked to ring the bell to be admitted during this time.

Room

Residents are provided with a private room with private bath. All bathrooms are equipped with a walk-in shower with a seat and a hose spray nozzle and showerhead. Each room has its own independent thermostat that can be controlled according to the resident's personal comfort level. Please bring personal possessions as space permits, unless the possessions infringe on the rights of others or create a fire or safety hazard.

Board

Residents are provided with three attractive and satisfying meals in accordance with state regulations and dietary standards and consideration of the resident's dietary and medical needs. The menu is a mixture of New England home-style comfort food that conforms to a Liberalized Geriatric Diet. A limited selection of snacks is available at any time. If needed, we will comply with a physician recommended diet whenever possible.

Personal Care

We will provide personal care as needed in accordance with our level of licensure, including:

  • One-person assistance with walking, transferring from bed to chair as needed
  • Assistance with hair, bathing, shaving, showering, brushing of teeth
  • Assistance with toileting and incontinence care

Nursing Care

Vermont regulations prohibit us from providing full time nursing care, except in limited circumstances, however we offer the following services:

  • Medication management: Medications wil be administered under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
  • Assessment and coordination of care with medical providers: A Registered Nurse (RN) is on duty Monday through Friday and on call Nursing staff is available after hours if needed. The Nurse Practitioner Registered Nurse Administrator oversees all nursing staff and is available to provide care as needed.
  • Our personal care attendants are trained to provide hands-on care with such things as non-sterile dressings, taking vital signs, and administering medications including subcutaneous injections.

It is our policy to have our staff administer/assist with all medications under the supervision and direction of our licensed nurse unless the resident's physician states that they may self-administer medications.

Activities

We have an Activities who plans groups and events to stimulate mental and physical health. Examples of activities include bingo, exercise, trivia, singing, musical entertainment, crafts, and bible study.

 

Transportation

We will provide up to four (4) trips per month for up to 20 miles round trip at no cost to the resident, in accordance with State regulation. In order to ensure our transportation person is available, please allow HHR to schedule the appointment with the provider.
